Rose Wong - Top 11 - Go Red On-Line Winner

1.If you could make one rule that everyone in the world had to follow, what would it be?
My birth name is Rosanna, which means ‘rose of grace’. I go largely by Rose because on the first day of 6th grade, the teacher asked for our nicknames as he took attendance. When he got to me, a boy shouted, “What about Rose!” Since then, the lovely name stuck.

2.If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I was a little entrepreneur! In elementary school during recess, I would set out granola bars I found at home on a playground table for sale. My little peers would bring their coins to make purchases after we settle on some bargain! Later I discovered that selling items was against school rules so The Granola Girl Co. had to shut down…but the businesswoman is still in me!

3.When do you feel a child or teen becomes an adult?
When I was little, my grandpa made me a television out of a cardboard box by cutting open one side and cutting a rectangle out of the other side of the box. I would stand behind the box and put on my own shows! I hosted the news, a cooking show and starred in a one-woman drama! My grandpa loved the programs but he’d say, “How is this TV always on!”

4.What do you feel you have learned in life that will be the most useful?
I attended school in Hong Kong for a few years. Because of my previous Canadian education, my English was advanced compared to my peers. Therefore, I was selected to be the captain to lead our class’ team in competing for the 4th grade Spelling Bee. I remember hitting the bell to answer the last question of the Bee- “Spell ‘Excellent’!” I not just spelled it correctly but our team won by a decisive victory!

5.What do you feel is the hardest job in the world and why?
I was raised by my grandma in Vancouver, Canada. Every morning until the last several years of her life, she would watch and record an educational English language program to fine tune her English. Watching her diligently take notes while eating breakfast had made me learn the true meaning of “Learning Never Stops”! Her passing from pancreatic cancer had inspired me to passionately promote my platform.
