1.If you could make one rule that everyone in the world had to follow, what would it be?
A quote I have always kept in mind since elementary school is “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” By Harriet Tubman. It always reminds me that no matter what the circumstance, I will make a difference in this world and positively impact someone’s life.
2.If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Ever since I was young, I’ve always had a knack for bringing joy to people’s life. (Why I’m nicknamed Joi) When a close friend in middle school went through depression and self-harming, I knew I had to take action. Seeing the pain she and many others went through motivated me to fight against depression. I am currently the teen advocate for the National Depression Bipolar Support Alliance that is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.
3.When do you feel a child or teen becomes an adult?
I always played “Life” with my Bratz Dolls. I developed characters and made my own little world. I even experimented with stop-motion-animation when I was nine years old! That ended up coming in handy because I was n the mass communication magnet for middle school. I continued to improve my communication skills throughout those years through mock trail, film editing, and directing; which are all jobs I plan to pursue in the future.
4.What do you feel you have learned in life that will be the most useful?
In elementary school I participated in many clubs. In fourth grade I participated in Math Engineering Science and Achievement (MESA) and represented my elementary school. I also participated in the Science Engineering Technology and Mathematics (STEM) Fair. In both the fourth and fifth grades, I represented my school and in fifth grade I placed third out of all of the Baltimore County Public School System.
5.What do you feel is the hardest job in the world and why?
I was inducted in the National Art Honor Society in the third grade and transitioned from visual arts to creative writing in fourth grade. My writings were published in “A Celebration of Poets – Northeast” in 2009 and in 2010. In middle school I was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society and my writings were published in the school’s literary magazine all three years. Today I continue to write poems, screenplays, and short stories.
